Keep Hope Alive! Join Us! Obama '08! Oh yeah! Barack Obama[dot]com
The best word that I can use to describe myself contains 4 letters and one syllable: Dork. I have been one since I came out of the womb. I love books, I love studying, and I didn't mind the occasional quiz. I like all sorts of subjects, sometimes those that have nothing to do with what I majored in. I like anything dealing with verbal and non-verbal communication, rhetoric, language, literature, and theology. I like architecture, mainly Byzantine and Gothic. I watch A&E, National Geographic, The Weather Channel, and The History Channel way more than anyone should.
As far as the academics go, I graduated Magna cum laude from St. Mary's University with a Bachelor's degree in Speech Communication. I graduated with honors from St. Philip's College with an Associates of Liberal Arts, and in August, I will start my master's program in Justice Policy. Honestly, the best is yet to come.
As far as all things media is concerned, I do have a few loves. I love love love Arrested Development. It is quite possibly the funniest show I have ever seen in my life. In almost every comedy, there is character this is undoubtedly "root-able." What I love about AD is that NO such character exists. There is not a single redeeming quality in any of the characters. I love the movie, The Godfather. I have worshipped at the altar of Brando for years, ever since I saw him in The Wild One when I was five. I actually wrote a paper based on the quote, "It's not personal, it's just business." I love The Office, not only because of Jim and Pam, but also the absolute brilliance of writers and cast. I love Fox on Monday nights at 7:00. It's Prison Break time, and possibly, the most nerve racking hour on television. I love the character Lincoln Burrows and maybe that's because he is just so damn cool. Even after escaping, he just could not fit in. I’m excited because Psych has returned to it's usual time: Friday nights at 9:00 on USA. Gus and Shawn are the absolute best. Finally, I adore CSI: New York. Perhaps it’s Gary Sinise, but this is only CSI show I have been able to watch. The stories are completely unbelievable, and I’m hoping Lindsay will finally get together with Danny.
My favorite celebrities are Stephen Colbert, Lewis Black, Jon Stewart, and Keith Olbermann. I’m currently in love with Barack Obama, and I can't wait till he's our new president.
In middle school, I read the complete works of Edgar Allan Poe. In high school, I was the only person who finished, The Grapes of Wrath. I have a soft spot for Jane Austen, John Steinback, and Dan Brown. I thought The Catcher in the Rye was ok. I loved The Kite Runner and Life of Pi. J.K. Rowling is amazing and I can’t wait for the next Harry Potter novel. I'm currently reading The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, Beloved by Toni Morrison, and The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama.
I’ve played the piano for sixteen years and the alto saxophone for seven. I marched in the band during high school. My favorite bands are System of a Down and The Beatles. I love the album, Room for Squares, by John Mayer. Tori Amos’, "Siren," is hauntingly beautiful. I was raised to sounds of Chicago, The Doors, James Brown, Earth Wind and Fire, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. I love Natalie Merchant, Jason Mraz, and Dido.
So basically, I’m a splitting image of you.
